Liverpool Cole out to prove himself

Joe Cole is back training with Liverpool after a year in France with Lille and is determined to make the most of his second chance at the club.

Cole turned out to be something of a misfit in the 2010-11 season after arriving on a free transfer from Chelsea, with his only Premier League start after Kenny Dalglish replaced Roy Hodgson being the 1-0 loss at Aston Villa on the final day of the season. He was then farmed out on loan after only 12 months at the club.
But with Brendan Rodgers now in charge, Cole hopes to finally excel under his third boss at Anfield.
He said: "It's great to be back. It's a clean slate for everyone, so I'm delighted to be back. Training has been good and it's nice to be back in England and nice to be back in Liverpool.
"Of course, I have something to prove. I don't want to leave Liverpool one day having not been a success here or having left something here. I want to make an imprint at the club. I've been a success at West Ham, Chelsea and Lille. I don't want people to say that I haven't here.
"I'd like the opportunity to play, learn and improve, and join this great team. It excited me coming here because I knew what a big club it was with a rich history and I wanted to be part of something. I still do.
"The fire still burns in me to be a part of it I want to be part of this club moving in the right direction. Obviously, when I came here, I was sent off in my first game and had a few niggly injury problems. I only played something like 700-odd minutes of Premier League football in that season.
"It was a tough season for me by far and away the worst season in my career because I just didn't get going."
